Q. What does NJIT SWE do?
NJIT SWE hosts and sponsors various professional events each semester like alumni panels, company visits, networking nights, and community service events! These events allow our members to grow professionally, network, and connect with women in engineering. We also have social events such as Paint N’ Sips and Destress Days.
Q. Can I join?
NJIT SWE membership is open to all undergraduate students from all majors! If you are a graduate student, check out Grad SWE here. We strive to create an inclusive and diverse community to change the face of the future engineering workforce.
Q. How do I join?
You can join NJIT SWE by signing up on Highlander Hub, and staying active in our events/meetings! If you’d like, you can also become a national SWE member.
Q. How do I stay updated about SWE events?
There are many ways to stay updated about SWE events! Follow our Instagram page @njit_swe, our Highlander Hub, our LinkedIn @NJIT SWE, and our discord @NJIT SWE to know about our upcoming events.
Q. How can I talk to an E-Board officer to volunteer or shadow them?
If you want to join the shadowing board, make sure to join our Discord, where a shadowing form will be sent at the beginning of the semester for those interested. If chosen, you must be available to attend weekly meetings with E-board members and complete tasks given by the E-board member you are shadowing.
Q. How do I attend a local or national conference?
National and regional conferences are held every year. These conferences allow professional growth through workshops, offer career opportunities through job fairs, and build networks. Members are welcome to individually register/attend conferences, but our chapter has sponsored a small number of standout general body members in the past. If you want to be sponsored, you must be an active member of SWE. Information about the conferences will be communicated through our social media platforms.
